rotte_volf @ 03:04 am: Manifesto "Dyudrok"
We - the movement "Pop-Revolution" want to introduce you with a new direction in art and new philosophy - Dyudrok. The point is that it's not just a declaration. We have a clear plan promotion of these principles. We know how to do that people have moved to other realities!

Manifesto "Dyudrok"

(New Experimental Art)

1. In connection with the so-called global crisis art movement "POP-REVOLUTION" (with the partial assistance of ART-REVOLUTION) and the artist Artyom Suslov as well as several other free artists decided to create and implement the concept of promotion of new art "Dyudrok."

The essence of this art is to re-establish the own way of avant-garde and surrealism. Dyudrok included any avant-garde and modern art with blurred boundaries of genres and unlimited fantasy of the author.

At the moment, the world economic system as well as world political system infringe
on the majority of rights, freedoms, opportunities and even hopes of man.
In this regard, decreasing the creative capacity of most people because
it decreases the level and scope of vision as well as the hope of translating its
into reality. At the time of the current crisis, a simple man forgets about high ideals,
he dreams at a low level. Dyudrok must to protect people from objective reality.
We believe - the objective reality that is at this level of crisis can and should move to
second place. We have the right to push it into second place if we give to the man a
new reality, which will carry the title of "objective". what is now "objective" will take
second place, or just disappear for a man.

Accordingly, we believe that everyone, regardless of his religious beliefs, his status in
the society, and regardless of the sanctions, which in future could be taken against the
"Dyudrok" has the right to go to the new reality at any time, partially or completely .

2. In our view, any human rights organization and any commission or authority that
to deal with human rights have the obligation to protect the right of every adult
in the transition, partial or complete, in a different reality.

3. If the man who entirely gone in a different reality according with the laws of this reality
can no longer be capable - this is his personal decision as the new reality does not contradict
the existing laws and not causing harm to anyone. Neither does the campaign leading cause harm.
No one is obliged to support the individual's life in old reality when he left a letter of
advice (note) with the signatures of witnesses.

4. The departure of a reality, as well as assistance in this, not an injury to humans,
because the only thing involved in this process - the human imagination.
But imagination does not belong to the bodi, as well as the experiments of the imagination
is not harmful for the rights of mental functions.
Accordingly, there is no room for any regulations on the intentional infliction of harm or death to
humans. Also note that imagination is fully subject to his master.

5. Relatives and friends of man who passed away in a different reality have the right to challenge the
decision through the courts or through the human rights organizations and and demand to return
him to the reality in which they are located. In doing so, c. 5 is partly contrary to the core - 1 item,
and further debate on this soil can be resolved only in the mutual agreement of the parties.

6. As Dyudrok is not limited with anything and depends only on the human imagination,
it does not conflict with any law and religious customs.

7. For the same reason (not limited and opportunity
giving own properties) Dyudrok and concept its development
and its veneration is not any organization or religion
nor the political movement. Because Dyudrok do not have its own symbols and beliefs.

The author of the Manifesto is Artyom Suslov.

catvalente @ 03:06 pm: Hello In TV Land
All right, I've been getting some requests to join this project so I feel I should revive the community.

Are you all still interested or no? I've only received one contract so far--if you are still interested and want to get this off the ground sometime before the next century, please sign and scan me either the contract I mailed you, or print out the following and do the same.

I, the undersigned, agree to have a short story of no more (unless authorized) than fifty (50) words authored by Catherynne M. Valente tattooed on my body within 4 months of receipt of said work. I authorize Ms. Valente to publish photos, taken by me, of my tattoo online and in print form. Ms. Valente is not responsible for any injury incurred during the tattoo process nor for the cost of the tattoo in question.

I'm still rather excited about this project, as I get new people asking about it every few days. Let's get this back on track!
(I should add that if you want to translate the story into another language, or have it translated by someone else, you are free to do so.)

9 people confirmed so far! My dreaming goal was 12-15, so I'm very, very excited about this! Please fill out this poll about some of the logistical issues that have come up. If you have any other questions or suggestions, leave a comment. And post! Anyone have ideas for design yet? Know some good html jockeys who might want to work on the site? Who do we like on American Idol? At what point should I have to do this with you?

(Also, for anyone who has already received the contract, would you please append something to the text about me not being responsible for any injury? Don't want to get sued if a freak accident occurs. Thanks. I'll fix the contract for everyone who hasn't gotten it yet.)

Poll #285930 Logistics

Would this be more fun for you if the stories linked up in a subtle way--connected, yet remaining entities in and of themselves?

I only care about mine. When do I get mine?

Should I let some on-the-fence people choose a henna option, stored in a different place on the eventual site?

No fair! If I'm permanently etched, everyone should have to be.
Sure, as long as it's separate, why not?
I'm not getting tattooed if I can get hennaed.

Moveable Type is the name of a certain kind of blogging software. Should I change the name? To what?

(If the henna option flies, I'm thinking they should have to go an extra mile to make up for some people having really gone the extra mile. Perhaps full torso or both legs, ornate design, something like that? Your thoughts?)

catvalente @ 04:49 pm: Welcome!
Hello, everyone! I'll post the guidelines here for all to see--ask any questions you like, and good luck to all of us!

What is the Moveable Type Project?

Inspired by the Skin project, it is moving, breathing art. I liked the idea of Skin, but disliked the execution. I wanted to move beyond the dada-like notion of having a meaningless word tattooed on a person's body, and into the realm of a complete work--you would not get a leaf tattooed, and be content knowing that if you stood side by side with all the other people who had ever gotten leaves painted on them, you might make a tree. I would prefer to wear the tree--wouldn't you? And since the Skin project thinks of its members as merely "words," without names or identities once they have been imprinted with their particular combination of letters, I wanted to create something where the words and the models fused, rather than one being seen as more important than the other.

So I offer this alternative. The Moveable Type Project.

I'll write a short-short story. 50 words or less, unless you authorize me for more. You'll get it tattooed anywhere on your body, and in any arrangement, i.e., you can have half on your shoulder and half on your thigh, or any other layout. Unlike the Skin authoress, I won't mandate the font or the presentation--have it done however you like. Once it's done, you'll send me an 8x10 of you with the tattoo readable and visible. If it looks like a sizeable number of people are interested, I'll buy a domain name and make this a full-fledged online publication. You will not get a random word, you will not become "my" word--you'll get a complete story, written specifically for you. (for samples of my writing style, see darkest_peru). You can include artwork with the tattoo, I don't care, as long as the text is readable.

You will have to sign a very loose, non-anxiety inducing contract saying that a.) you'll get the tat and b.) that I have permission to publish the photos of you. I mean, I'm not going to write a story for you if you're going to chicken out. It is very likely that this will run in multiple cycles, each cycle appearing in its own section on the site, much as a quarterly journal would.

Use this site for anything, guys. I'll update about the project, but I hope that we can all become quite mushily bonded tattooed circus folk.
